Do you see the game ever reaching a "capped point?" Read thread.

The game will keep adding new characters, buildings, decorations, skins, expansions & content. It has no intention of slowing down. With 27 seasons of Simpsons history & beyond. Because let's face it, the series isn't going to end anytime soon. The world is rich & the characters will keep coming. It's not going to end.

So rest assured, that the game is going to keep giving us rich content for many more years to come and beyond.

As long as it remains profitable the game will not be ending anytime soon. As long as EA is making a decent product it won't die. So, sit back and enjoy the ride.

Everyone has made good points about the longevity of content, but what about:

- Land space capping out?
- Too many things in towns capping out devices, etc? (again, coming from someone who DOESN'T want to use their inventory, collect as many things as possible to display/use.)

While we keep living in our throw away society of upgrading devices to the latest and greatest newest version then I can't see why they need to be capping the game that way, as to older devices that's already happening, there have been several posts from players on this forum saying that they were playing the game yesterday but now that the update has come out it keeps telling them that their device is not supported.

A couple of thoughts. First, didn’t the show runner for The Simpsons, Al Jean, recently speculate that the show might end after 30 seasons? Second, I think what the OP is primarily talking about isn’t EA’s desire to continue developing and marketing the game along current lines, but rather whether hardware and software constraints can “stay ahead of” the increasing demands made by the continual addition of new land, characters, buildings, etc., etc.

I kinda agree and disagree with your friend.

1) The game will most certainly cap out with characters in the show, but I have a feeling a big reason why the show continued was because of this game, so a bunch of new characters were added to the roster. They also showed us they're not afraid of adding characters that aren't in the show so if this game outlived everything usable from the show and was still selling well they'd simply make more characters and building. As long as Matt Groening is involved then I believe most would be happy with that.

2) The land issue however can definitely become a problem. Tablets seem to run this game just fine, but I'd assume there's a finite amount of potential land so with current tech it'll only go so far. However tech advances and so does processing power on phones. I'm sure two years from now phones will easily be able to run a map that's twice as large as this one. It'll come down to how well their game engine is able to work and how far back backwards compatibility goes. The developers have to constantly balance that too so that has a big impact on how far the game can go. Theoretically speaking of everyone had current gen high end devices they can go way crazier with the game, but they can't because of people who use older phones and tablets.

3) People have been talking about this games demise ever since it was released. The fact of the matter is, as long as people are playing and paying it'll still be going. People are hyper cynical for whatever reason but one thing they fail to remember is that money talks and there are plenty of people who pay so they just need to calm down.

- There will likely be a point at which new land will stop being released. Hopefully not for a long time.

- There is an item limit currently in place. 8500 decorations is the max (up from the previous 7500 limit a few of months ago).

I imagine the reason for these limits is to control server space and to ensure our devices can run it without incurring problems. We can't give EA more money if we can't play the game.

OP probably would cringe at the stuff in my inventory as it is full of all kinds of things - decos, buildings, premium items, items with multipliers (more than 120% bonus sits idle in there). It doesn't bother me nor do I feel the need to display every pixel that I've ever acquired. I just like having a nice town. :D

Yes, precisely. Thanks for the clarification. Some form of content will more or less always be coming. But the "stay ahead of" portion you mention is what I'm more referring to.
