The price of donuts in foreign countries is a function of the strength of the local currency vs US currency.
Only problem with that the trend is that the pound has been strengthening against the dollar over last 3 months. Although the difference between 1st May and 1st of June is a decrease of about 1 cent.

Could be lots of things. They're always coming up with new ways to tax everybody. Louisiana just made it illegal to do cash transactions at yard sales because people weren't paying sales tax on their cash transactions...
