I did not perform so rigorous an analysis as you did, kenney, but I did look at the percent increase in money and xp earned for various tasks in my own town and found that it was, in fact, in excess of the conformity bonus by a substantial amount, leading me to believe that my premium items *were* having an effect. My personal conformity bonus changed while testing, so thats why i do not have a constant result.
but i think that it is proved , that the premium items do ot go into this calculation - and thats not game desingn , thats an error....
Even if i do not sum the percentages up but take them after each other i will get a higher value.
so 40 + 3.5% = 41,4 + 14% = 47 (runded down)
Even if ONLY the highest item is taken and all others ignore (Springfield sign) what would be definitiv an error,
if should be 43. not 42

To Kains Math:
What you do (i think) is to add the premium items bonus on the bonus of the Star rating and not to the job reward. Correct ?
But as the star rating is max 5% this would be nearly 0 (rounded down) in most of the times.
And on the items is written "adds bonus to jobs" and not "adds an bonus to the bonus you get by the star rating" that would be absolute ridiculous- I've submitted a report to EA. If I get any sort of coherent answer back from them, I'll post it to this thread.

There are three contact options, chat, call, and e-mail, but chat and call were always grayed out whenever I looked. They promise a reply to e-mail submissions with 24 hours. you can not tell me that the have no clue about this.
i just think they wait , and hope that nobody will care in a few days ... - day three - no answer - today i got an update in the game but nothing changed -
tomorrow i will call the apple hotline and will claim my money back , as i got no response - EA had enough time to react - but just to ignore everything is *****
