Event tasks. Missing the way it was.

Hididdly ho neghboureenos!

I don’t know if it’s been said or not but I really do miss the way that the old events ran. I miss the challenge of tapping zombies and rabbits in my town, sending gremlins, eggs or presents to my friends and accumulating golden coins or any other of those currencies. It felt more involved than just collecting 100 currency each time.

And I know I’m going to be hated for this. But I do miss the challenge of the holiday wheel. As much as it made me annoyed and threw my device a few times because I was sick of fences, it actually had be religiously come on to take part in the event.

I don’t know the most of you feel but with the way that most events are lately (past maybe 12 months and a bit) seem lazy and just repetitive.

It’s only my thoughts so I was just wondering if any of you tappers felt the same.
  • I'm on my lunch break so I can't really respond as this topic deserves.

    Yes.
    Very much yes.

Perhaps the Krustyland event caused the game to become far too slow, what have you, but things slowed down to....this

I'm not cautiously optimistic, I'm not hopeful, or looking forward to anything.

    I'm just drifting.

    I'm not even playing anymore.

I visit my town sure, but it's a simple matter of wash and repeat. Click, reassign, click when done, repeat.

Not to say that it wasn't like this before as well. It was, but creativity often found a way. Those minigames, the ways we devised to extract every extra bit of event currency that we could.

The ability to visit other players town and see our neighbors town in holiday/event motif.

Was it difficult? No just aggravating.
Leveling up crafting was the biggest issue.

I hated it, I still hate it and it has no purpose other than to make an otherwise simple mechanic needlessly complicated.

Listen, previous events did have a sliding difficulty curve that become progressively easier as time went on, as the acts progressed we complained less and less.

Perhaps we don't complain as much, but that's because we're so bored we'd rather do anything else. I appreciate what they tried to do. It was new and exciting.

    Was

It's now old and stale, like the donuts they give on sale. You don't need to make something amazing every time. Mixing it up is all we really want at the moment, we'll settle for that add some of the old mechanics with the new, add a minigames or two.

    This is no event.

Call it what it is, a Mini Event with extra steps.
  • I think it's partly EA cutting on funding for the game. This all came about when EA made many layoffs and made less than what was expected. So with Apex legends around I think they may be doing better. But I personally enjoyed the previous format. I'm honestly just wanting a good Simpsons story. You think they would hire a writer from bongo comics that ceased doing Simpson magazines. Story and content! I don't even mind if it stays the way it is if the content is worthwhile. I just miss the days where we created "zones". One can wish for a second bang of burns casino and Springfield destination.

It's not that the events were hard, but the wrong type of hard.

I liked crafting, I've crafted a fair bit of stuff, but I did not like having to get something I didn't want just to level up.

    AND,

I did not like the costs steadily getting more expensive as the event went through the three act's.
So we had loads of little stuff from early on in our towns but few of the big stuff at the end.

Especially noticeable on Moe's Ark, Great Plains & Warmongers were painfully expensive, and to add insult to injury, you could only get 400 event currency from a DC, where previously, you could get 4,000.

It's a question of perspective, my two pence anyway.

I think you're correct in this.

If people complained about one aspect of the game mechanic, EA always seemed to make adjustments to the succeeding event. The problem was, they adjusted things to fix what no one was complaining about.

I didn't mind a gradual increase in cost. It did keep things challenging as currency became easier to get. It became a problem when the cost rose steeply. I too hated the level up mechanics on the more recent events, particularly that space they marked off in which to place crafted items to gain points. I'm still trying to work out what that was supposed to accomplish. Having the items unlock as the new acts opened was fine. I don't see why we were forced to buy unwanted items or quantities of items. Sometimes one of something is enough.

Yes. I've thought the same about the staffing.

Also, the "world showcase" travel events were my favorite. Best content we ever had IMO.

I particularly liked clash of clones. Battling random towns that we'rent on your friends list and the witty dialogue as you leveled up characters. Can't remember if this was the same event we had puzzles to solve in or not but I liked that too.

    That was Stonecutters.

To keep us entertained, I wish that - - in between new "events" - - they'd just hit the "rewind/replay" button on old events. Give us something fun to do to fill our time. Just let us replay the original version of an old game. Like rewatching the original "Manchurian Candidate" before the new one was released. I wouldn't even mind not getting any new prizes, because asking them to make any changes means they'd have the excuse of saying that they're going to need some time because they're working on updating it. The "fun" part, to me, was the interactive "social" aspect and meeting deadlines and stuff.

In my opinion, it would be better than nothing.

(Incidentally, a pox on your head for saying you want the wheel event back. If I ever see another blue or pink or gold Easter basket, I'll end up curled in a fetal position in the corner of my room.)

BROKEN blue or pink or gold Easter basket

there I fixed it for you ;) :D

I've never had an Easter basket at all.
