Has in game cash lost its value?

You still need cash. The family practice building cost me $160,500 and I believe the hospital is around $193,000, so I'm putting off on buying land for now.
  • I had my Springfield wiped (almost 2 months ago now without a resolution.. thanks EA!), and I have started a new account. So while I still have lots of buildings to get, cash is still very valuable to me.

Also, I think this forum is probably full of over-achievers and super dedicated players. I doubt the 'average' player would have all the land, all the buildings, etc. There are still uses for cash. It's just for now, coins are also very desirable

It's a fair observation. As new buildings and characters are added, the income for each player as they keep playing only increases. You can only make new buildings so expensive and you only have to buy them once. Land gets more costly of course and there are always decorations but after a certain point in playing money is very easy to come buy and starts rolling in. The seasonal currencies are a nice way to get everyone back to a new starting point and keep interest piqued for all players.

The seasonal updates keep me entertained much longer than a regular update, that's for sure.
  • Indeed. I have found that I make money so quickly now with so many characters and buildings that I don't ever really want for anything cash-related. Oh, if only that were the case in real life...

Premium/donut and Limited/coin content on the other hand, is certainly a hot commodity to me at the moment.
  • I had 273,000 saved before the update and when I saw that was not much to buy with cash I spent most of it buying land.
But then I discovered the Hibbert care centre and the general Hospital at quite a cost, the quest has already started for me to build the care centre at $160,500 and I'm well below this mark to purchase.
  • I'm going to keep sending characters on tasks as I normally would, with the exception of utilizing the ones that give you coins. I'll probably hold off on doing any major redecorating until the snow melts away. It just looks so different now with all the leafless trees.
  • Must admit i spend less $$ than before and now hoard it a bit.
Only gripe is that some of the premium items are ridiculously over priced... I suppose they figure enough people glaze over and spend $ to get the new shiny objects.
  • I think it's a matter of perspective from where you are in the game.

When the Halloween update came around, I had only been playing for about a month. My Springfield was only about half built and I remember frantically grinding away. I wanted to be sure I had Moe's built so I could get the cauldron and witch-Marge (accomplished), and also hoped to get the town complete before the next update so I wouldn't still be playing catch-up (FAIL). In the midst of all that building, land-buying and Halloween decorating, I ran completely out of cash. I remember a time or two when I had the quest to build something and had to wait till I had the cash.

Now that I'm level 24 and have all the characters working, you're right. The cash is easier to get and I have less to spend it on. However, if EA introduced an update that gave us, say, 5 new levels with 1 or 2 buildings per level - I bet a lot of us would be scrambling for cash again.

NO. The land gets more and more expensive. I have 24 sections of land left to buy....... total cost.. about 2 million.....

@tappedoutdave Wow, I thought I was all houghty toughty with 1.3 Mill ;) - also added you ;)

As to the original question, I don't think money looses its value. I can see where as you go up in levels, the cost of buildings and land increases. EA could make money a bit more versatile - Example - I would think that the option to use money to purchase donuts would actually benefit EA in the long run because it would increase the amount of dedicated game players. Or how about a compromise where you could pay a specific amount of cash for a discount on donuts.

  • The Christmas update allows you to build up your bank...any quests previous to the update is on hold. So come Jan my pockets will be deep and will purchase Channel 6
  • The cash is flowin big time. I'm clocking at least 80 a day, maybe more. But I don't do much else aside from this game.
