Well if Homer's New Years predictions are correct, we might be seeing it real soon.
Im thinking it'll happen in the next few months as an expansion similar to Squidport.
At the end of July or the start of August IMO. :-)jukan00 wrote:

Well I figured they would probably create tracks for it however you need to buy and build pieces of the track just like the boardwalk tiles in squidport.
I mean you might be right too. Who can say what EA is thinking?! :D
I've just always found it presumptuous when people assume we're going to have to build a giant track.
The thing crashed and crumbled ya know?
Yep, plus it's an excuse to release that monorail guy and/or monorail homer skin. :Dkarensell wrote:

I just watched the episode today on tv.
In the ending, they showed the popsicle tower, the 50 ft magnifying glass and the escalator to nowhere. The 3 aspirations.
No way that the tapped out team is taking inspiration from those 3 things but not the central thing of the episode, the monorail.
Those are the only 3 aspirationals? What is the zircon?
It's from the episode where there's a criminal wave in SF, and with only 3 police in the town Homer starts his own police force.- mwdaltonNew Spectator

Yeah, with the Cat Burglar, Malloy. They should add him to the game. :) amcevil wrote:
I think the only way to do the monorail, especially in light of the land issue for many players, is to make the tracks placeable over the streets. No additional land needed.
http://gifrific.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Andy-Dwyer-Saying-Great-Idea.gif- the one thing i could care less if it was added or not
i just don't see the monorail as necessary or how it would work well with the game, besides the obvious land issues it would just look ugly in the town..
biggest reason i would be against a working monorail is i'm a old school Simpsons fan and just can't have a working monorail with how the episode yet just doesn't feel right
(that's assuming they make a working one) - No no no! No monorail.
Only if its the broken down part with the size of, let's say the mall.
Tracks are gonna screw with the aesthetics of the town, with the smoothness of running the game....
Only fools would like tracks, in any way. stooby2 wrote:
The big problem with the monorail is, I think, a design issue. If you build on the current springfield, the tracks, pillars, etc, will obscure a huge amount of other buildings and wandering characters, underneath or behind them. The escalator to nowhere or the food needle in Krustyland are prime examples - most people have them at the far right or the back of their towns, or move building so there is nothing behind them, so a monorail running around the town would be very difficult to to design in.
For it to work, you'd really need to be able to rotate the whole map, zoom in under the monorail and so on. Otherwise you'll either not be able to tap on stuff under/behind the tracks and pillars, or have to move everything as you build your monorail. And with everything crammed in already, I don't think it's gpoing to work.
Those are so very good points. I'd be interested to see what it ends up being, because I doubt they'll make the game rotatable (as cool as that would be). Maybe they won't make it as tall as the skyscrapers. Who knows...
Ultimately I hope they come out with more land.
To all those people who say we don't need more land: stop being so self centered. Remember just because you don't need land doesn't mean older players don't. If they add more land it won't hurt you in any way. It'll only save you from the headaches of redesigning your towns when you actually run out of space...
