I say no. There are no "rules" for this games therefore cheating can occur. Is it unethical, well that's a different questions, but no I don't think it's unethical either.
I have to agree but it seems as though using a glitch to get hundreds of Squidport tiles is acceptable but any glitch that is used to get a couple free donuts is frowned upon.- No, people use in game glitches all the time. Mario Kart 7 there was a short cut that skipped 2 laps - didn't stop people from trying to use it (been patched a long time now).
Same with speed runners of classic NES/SNES games. There's glitches where you can skip levels, worlds. Someone beat the Ocarina of Time in like 20 minutes (as child link too), so then there's that.
If it was not intended, then it should be patched (see Mario Kart 7) GamerGD3 wrote:

I guess i am talking about this game more than anything.
Like the squidport tile glitch which is a glitch because if it was not it would be available for everyone to use not only those that don't have less that 151 tiles.MaxxSpider wrote:

If one was to say that then they would be hypocrite. With hundreds of SQT come thousands of xp. With all that xp you level up and get free doughnuts. I see no problem with it. EA has had months to fix this and if they are okay with it, then so am I. Now, hacking the game to get unlimited doughnuts would be cheating by my standards. But do I care if people do it, no. But that's just me.coookies58 wrote:
These stacking "glitches" have been in the game long enough that EA could have removed them if they saw a problem. They don't lose EA any money, so I see no real or ethical problem with utilizing them. Hacking and cheating to get donuts is a different story and is cheating.
Hacking is cheating yes
but if there is a glitch that is in game that can give you free donuts why is that wrong.
where is the line drawn?
using the tile glitch give you lots of XP which gives you donuts as well.MaxxSpider wrote:

I was just explaining in another thread why I thought stackables weren't a "glitch." (That being that it's predictable. You can replicate the results in any town. A glitch to me is a weird thing that happens sometimes and you can't control it.)
But, the permanently possessed character some players got during Halloween was certainly a glitch, and allowed some people to get ridiculous amounts of goo (and the bonus donuts that came with it) and I don't think they were cheating by collecting all that goo.- To me, things like the SPT are not really glitches (as has been mentioned before), rather they are ways to let us "get something" by following the nuances of the game. Once we are more involved with the game, we are also more likely to spend $$$ for donuts. So...we get "free" tiles, and EA gets additional revenue from some at least.
- Couldnt help but post this ;) lol

No, I think that's a separate issue. Not being able to build more tiles is not equal to being unable to stack them. Like, I have stacked handshakes on my channel six building right now, for my Channel Ocho broadcast. Not everyone has channel six, or maybe they don't have Bumblebee Man so they can't broadcast Channel Ocho, but that broadcast not being available to every single person doesn't make the stackability a glitch. If the means of broadcast are there, handshakes can be stacked. If the means of building a boardwalk section are there, handshakes can be stacked on it. It's predictable.
Sometimes my brown houses look like a building from squidport, or one of the little stores, or what looks like the shards of a shattered object elsewhere in town. This is a weird thing that happens sometimes, and I can't predict or control it. It's a glitch in my graphics. See what I'm saying?stevie1der99 wrote:

The line is drawn at actively manipulating the code of the game to get donuts. Anything that happens within the game through no fault of your own due to apathy, error, or by EA's design is perfectly legit as far as I'm concerned.
This. Especially the statement in bold. Actively manipulating the games' code is like pro-athletes taking steroids or hormones to get an extra edge.
