It's probably just where you're at with SH. I used to have problems having enough coffee, but I've reached the point now where I need pills, pills, and more pills. A lot may also depend on what characters you do and do not have.
That's what I keep running out of, pills - I believe it's a part of the commentary of the game and society, to paraphrase the Dunkin Donuts jingle, The world runs on Dunkin (coffee)! So that's what is needed most in jobs. Then you could say coffee is the gateway drug to pills; growing up/older, maturing to pills and then running on pills. It's a social commentary like the Simpsons always have been. So I don't think it's an oversight at all to have those be the building blocks, and most used items.

New England certainly runs on Dunkin! There's one on nearly every corner. I think they are really stretching it though to say that the world runs on it. - someonewashereRising NoviceLong story short, I dig where your coming from.
I was at a point where I had surplus lattes, then I unlocked the institute and lattes dropped a bit, the smartphones were in surplus.
This event is meant to be taken either casually or aggresively, bear in mind if you do it aggressively you will hit roadblocks like this. - On purpose. Grind that coffee! Some people have said they prefer to build that up first, rather than try to do something that uses coffee at the same time.
- For me, it's the yoga mats.

Yes, but remember that 1 pill costs 2 coffees and 1 mat.
And statutes, the effective cost is 4 chairs, 4 coffees, and a mat.jedgeco wrote:

A lot depends on how you're tapping. Coffees only take 2 minutes to produce, while pills take 12 minutes, so I can pretty easily produce coffees faster than I use them up making pills.
I've also not found a lot of use for the statues yet. I just have Bumblebee Man making them, and by himself he can produce them faster than I can spend them. I realize that upgrading the buildings need them at higher levels, but it's always the lack of pills or mats holding me back, not the statues.
