Hmm. Interesting viewpoint. I don't disagree. I can see how you may get slightly burnt on donuts if you don't get crafting currency tasks (especially when some events don't have those kind of tasks at all), but since you don't know what type of challenges will be available until the event starts, it's a reasonable gamble. This is particularly true when you consider that you're facing a loss of somewhere between 3 and 18 donuts, which is seemingly nothing in light of how many you personally end up spending on event-specific crafting.
