I apologize to whomever I offended with a long response that stated an alternative POV. It was not intended to be mean-spirited but perhaps some of my frustration boiled over in that this tip appears every event and is often blindly followed to the detriment of some players (particularly newer ones with very few donuts). This is not the first time I've tried to present an alternative view but, in light of the response, it will be the last. Perhaps my tone was demeaning and if so, again, I apologize. But look at the responses! I've been told I'm "not a nice person" and "an a-hole" for sharing my views. I guess anyone who doesn't post here on a daily basis just isn't welcome. I should apologize for that too, I guess.
By the way, for anyone who actually cared about the initial point of the post (which, although I disagree, I'm not faulting @cdepast for his view which is obviously also helpful to many players, especially more long-term players who are less concerned about maximizing their donuts), @ABAaronson expressed a very interesting somewhat hybrid approach that got lost in the shuffle of attacks. Maybe the thread can get back to an actual discussion of strategy?
