You are guaranteed to have a neighbour that visits you! Lots of people have more than one town, commonly referred to as feeder towns, they can be helpful during events.
That's one point I did think of but I cant see that as a big advantage as my friends list is nearly full and I get visits every day on events and non events.rhysjoneshpi wrote:

It depends on the event. For the monorail event, it is quite pointless. For events where you can drop a special currency in the town, it is much more helpful. Not sure how long you've been playing, but a better example of this is Halloween 2013. The player was given gremlin eggs to drop in neighbor's town. The player could drop up to 10 in neighbor's towns.
Taking this to the feeder town, you could give your main town 10 eggs, go in and clear them (so you'd have room from other neighbors). Then in return you could deposit 10 eggs in the feeder town. If they were not cleared in 4 hours, you got a huge bonus. So both methods helped the main town significantly with additional event currency.
I don't think we've really had a recent event that had this type of neighbor mechanic, but never say never as it can always return.GamerGD3 wrote:

Good point yes I do remember that event, I think I might set up a second town then may just come in handy for one event.- wadebearRetired HeroIf you have a second device iit hardly takes any extra time to play 2 towns.

Well i am completing my wife's town at the moment so she can get the Rail Yard and this made me think about setting up another town as it doesn't take that long to do both of our town.rhysjoneshpi wrote:
Is there any benefit to this as I am thinking on setting up another town but can think of any reason for it apart from passing time?
I set my feeder town up during the stackable glitch which gave me three extra SP tiles per day. Oh my, haven't been in that town for a long time. Wonder how they are all doing.
*Runs off to revisit the neglected town.- i have a feeder town started about a year and a half ago or two (it was during the easter event with the wheel)
stopped playing after clash of clones for a while and restarted playing during the Sideshow Bob event. - You will be surprised by how different the play is if you started your other town before the new mystery box. Check out the RTTF thread from some great tips; especially at the very beginning of your town. Like do NOT spend those donuts on rushing. At the end of the tutorial you'll have approx 50 donuts that you can use to buy mystery boxes. That worked very well for most of the RTTF players; giving them some premium characters and items. Also, we are finding that characters do not have to be free to trigger quests! I don't know if that works at the very beginning, but it is working that way for most of us now.
- Thanks for the tips people I think I'll set my second town up tonight are they are several benefits to having one. :D
- skollthewolfRising NoviceYou know, I was toying with the idea of starting a second town. Maybe it's nostalgia for my early days of playing, when my town was only a few squares and a couple of freemium characters. I'm kind of on the fence right now.
