Seen a few people say they have the same issue..I haven't myself though.

I had that happen to me, too, about halfway through my friends list. I bought an Elite Licence, and that seemed to fix it. My theory is that if you hit the amount of snakes equal to (amount of friends) X 5, it'll stop you from collecting more. So if you have 100 friends, your limit is 500 snakes per day, if you have 50 friends, your limit is 250 snakes per day, etc, etc.Anyone else think that's it?

Update just released (with 12 measley donuts). Issue is still not fixed. No baton icon when visiting friends' towns. Very disappointed in EA

It would not surprise me, as the entire spirit of the game is designed to extort real-world money. Unlike other "Freemium" games from Gameloft etc., it is not possible to obtain sufficient premium currency in Tapped Out by simply playing longer and with more skill -- the ONLY way to obtain all the premium items in this game is to spend real-world money, and A LOT of real-world money at that.

I have had this problem since getting the balancing beam. Maybe it is related to getting snake items? I have submitted a ticket over a week ago on EA's site and still no response. Says 48 hours to hear back from them. Also still no fix. Not wasting 30 donuts on a "chance" that it might fix the issue buying the elite license when people with the elite license also have the problem.

I don't think it's a bait n switch. I think it's just sloppy software coding -again. Remember, this is the game that was so buggy when first released that EA had to pull it off iTunes for several months just to clean it up.

I'm guessing this bug resets some kind of "flag" in the player's profile that tells the game that the player has earned the whacking license and can go into other towns to collect snakes. That's why the only way to solve the issue right now is to spend 50 donuts to buy the elite license. When you do that, the flag is set again and the game again recognizes that the player is allowed to collect snakes from other towns.

Sloppy programming. This should be an easy fix....

BUMP again.

EA - please fix. It's going to be very difficult reaching the last few prizes without being able to whack snakes in friends' towns.

I've been whacking away for almost two weeks now. Have the elite license. Never had an issue tapping in friends towns. Just went into to whack and no button. It's like whacking day is over.

I saw an update this morning, but it seems like this issue was no fixed. I'm hoping for tomorrow. I have over 5800 snakes, but I think getting the strip mall is becoming a pipedream.

I got the elite license as soon as I got the normal license about 4 days after the event started. The next day my whacking button was gone and hasn't returned. I ended up buying donuts and bought some snake logs. Now I've just passed 11500 snakes and haven't whacked a snake in another town for weeks.
It's actually made whacking day quite easy but EA should reimburse me for my donuts as I had no intention of buying donuts to acquire snakes. I had no choice or miss out on a lot of items. I presume they'll fix it with about 2 days to go.

Just to warn people. I bought the elite licence after the normal one stopped working and now the elite has stopped working so it fixes the problem only for a short while. Well it did for me.

I've managed to get a reply from EA and I'm being transfered to a 'higher department' to sort it out. But as they're busy it's going to be about 1-2 weeks before I get a reply.

I had the usual problem of no whacking snakes but then I reluctantly bought the Elite license and its worked ever since. I. Also got a reply from EA to say to remove the game from your device and reinstall. Hope u guys can get back in business

Happened to me yesterday ~11000 snakes in the bag, and suddenly Mo's new outfit appears whilst the snake tap button disappears from all "other springfields".

I've already been using the elite license to farm those snakes - and I don't think I'd be able to make the 12500 target now even if they manage to fix it :(.
