- I used to be able to sort areas out to where i wanted to place the new buildings/mansions etc but being land is had to come by now, i have to just dump the building where ever there is a space and then start moving things around till i can finally put it somewhere properly....which with all the extra stuff we have got lately it is becoming increasly difficult to find extra space
- I like certain buildings to go together - factories with other factories etc. I have an area for mansions and a normal residential area. Right now, however, the stuff I haven't found a place for yet is sitting at the left bottom corner of my town. I'm not overly creative, but I do like to put thought into where things go. When I have enough $ to get all the remaining land (after buying some aspirational stuff I've been wanting), I hope to better organize my messy bottom left corner.
Btw - I love your new designs/areas. But please keep your picket fence homemade drive in. I love that thing! - I can't see much point in researching and fussing much before a money purchase. You're bound to get it sooner or later, so you may as well get it sooner, so it can start earning you money. Once you've got it, then you have any amount of time to decide where to finally put it, and how to set it up.
As for a donut purchase, then usually you either want it or you don't. If you want it, then surely you already have a vision in your head of how it will fit into your Springfield. And if you don't, but just know that you have to have it, then see above.
I have a plan for my Springfield, and I have strong opinions on where everything should be, but I still don't see much point in planning too much pre-purchase. Maybe I'd feel differently if I'd used up all the available land.
Also, it's clear that quite a few people just plonk buildings at random on grass anyway. - Back in the day when I first started I would make preparations like ; research the house/building/buisness, make sure I've got double the available cash (in case of back-to-back purchases), placement (keeping the Government , colored houses and certain structures together but in separate areas of town (like Cletus's farm & Nelsons house or Moe's tavern & King Toot ) and I even completely rearranged my Springfield several times over the early months.
As time has passed I've accumulated enough cash to steadily afford whatever I want, my neighborhood has spread to the point of placement of new items has become interesting & tricky sometimes and lastly, land purchases became maxed out.
Overall, my advise is to make sure you want before you get it.

This is where I'm at. Plop it down to start building- move stuff around to make it fit in..... - I have an area of my SF to plop down new buildings. Since it usually takes 24 hours or more, this gives me enough time to move stuff around to make the building fit.
I usually go for a town re-work about every 3 or 4 months if things get too weird looking... - AnnathewickedRising TravelerWhat's the purple stereo thing? Don't recognize it....

Same here, I've had to put some houses into my inventory to make room for the new ones we just got, :(
