I really like all of your points! The one thing I might tweak to make things a little closer to reality, is instead of a live feed for tire wear in the HUD, perhaps have something displayed at the end of the stage, when real drivers will typically get to check the tires. The physics should give you an idea of loss of grip as the tire wears during the stage, which currently seems off. Often time I will find that my tires have moderate wear, but the AI only has minor wear.
