Fix this please . 3de day not beieng ablel to play
1.9 After update game does not start after splash screen / STEAM
Win10 x64 / STEAM / RTX3070 / Ryzen 5 5600x / 16gb RAM
Since the 1.9 update, launching the game via steam results in the EA Splash Screen fully loading, then the ea service closes and WRC itself doesn't start. The button in steam goes back to "play".
Tried running both steam aswell as all EA and WRC executables as admin. Did a clean install, windows integrity check, tried disabling firewalls, enabled secure boot in bios, de- and reinstalled EA Anticheat with admin rights, added exceptions to windows defender and updated drivers as well as windows OS.Game worked fine the day before the update and no hard or software changes have been made. no programs running in the background except for steam.
EDIT:
For some reason relocating the game install via steam to my windows drive C: solved the problem (which is a shame because I don't really have 90gb to spare on this drive). I noticed that the launcher would install the main body of the anticheat on C:/Programms/EA/AC even if I manually installed the anticheat, so I relocated my game files to C: also. Don't know if this is the cause for the issue or intended, but keeping this up so others can see. Try having the game installed on the same drive/partition as EA anticheat.Product: EA SPORTS™ WRC
Platform:Steam-PC
Summarize your bug Can't Launch Game Since 1.9.0 Update.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? No clue, you tell me.
What happens when the bug occurs? Launch from Steam, I see the EA WRC splash screen, has a white bar appear across it's bottom, splash screen goes away, Steam thinks game is no longer running (back to green play button instead of "launching")... nothing else happens after that. No questions if I want VR or Not, nada.
What do you expect to see? The game to work.
My Specs:
- Windows 10 Home 64-Bit (22H2)
- Intel i5-8600k
- Nvidia RTX 3070 10 GB
- 32 GB RAM
- Lots of storage (all NVME or SSD)
I have completed the following steps while attempting to play:
- Verify files via Steam (said 3 had to be replaced)
- Didn't fix it
- Complete uninstall/reinstall via Steam
- Including turning off Steam Cloud saving and trying to locate/delete all user save data (my documents, appdata, etc)
- Didn't fix it
- Manually uninstalling/reinstalling specifically the EA AntiCheat (the garbage you forced upon us even though I only play this as a single player experience)
- Didn't fix it
- Tried loading and updating the EA App (game doesn't appear there since I never bought it in your store, but via Steam)
- With or without it running in the background (after updating), it doesn't matter, still didn't fix it.
- Tried setting both wrc.exe, EAAntiCheat.Installer.exe and EAAntiCheat.GameServiceLauncher.exe to automatically run as admin
- And then uninstalled/reinstalled EAAntiCheat again.... obviously, still no fix.
- Tried running with my VR HMD (not using for this game, because even with a 3070 I can't get a decent framerate without it looking like a PS1 experience, unacceptable for VR)
- Tried running without my Sim Racing equipment hooked up (wheel, pedals, etc)
- Tried running without even an Xbox controller hooked up
What's next? Any files I can submit for you? Here's only relevant event I found in my Windows Event Viewer...
The description for Event ID 1 from source Application cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer. If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event. The following information was included with the event: EAAntiCheatService Failed to obtain Origin directory The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table
Is this because I have a slightly different than expected install path, because my Steam directory isn't in C:? My path is E:\SteamLibrary2\SteamApps\common\EA SPORTS WRC\
Get to the fixing plz.
- Yup... that fixed it (moving to c:\ default path), lol... ugh, shameful EA, get it together.
PS: best would be to make anticheat optional, for those who want to officially compete online (even if that includes official leaderboards)... leave single player and private leagues alone (or down to league owner's choice). thanks (the 99% of us who don't cheat anyway) It would appear this issue happens for most when the game is not installed on the C: drive. I have the same issue but unfortunately do not have enough space on my C: drive to move the game.
Can you advise me on a work around for this?

With a lot of time and effort i managed to free up 90Gb on my C-drive.
Reinstalled the game on my C-drive ( which is an M-2) through steam, but the game still won't start. It shows the splash screen twice and then crashes - herve0692 years agoRising Rookie
I have the same problem too! Impossible to launch the game, even after trying all EA solutions!
I also resinstall Win11 and EA WRC, but still don't work... Look you anti cheat really works, because we can't play now! same problem for me,, buy at day 1 and just play 2 times, after patch and patch never work again,, try to solve with every solution posted here,,this is so frustrating and i'm
very disappointed,, return to play other game and X on EA sport
Game still doesn't work. Only splashscreen.
Also Anticheat FAQ page still error 500.

Thought i'd link this in - SennaMental on steam community forums found that renaming the openXR folder at "\steamapps\common\EA SPORTS WRC\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty" allowed their game to start.
