I have major froze issue in game and I went to check the event manager, every time the game froze there is a warning of “EasyAntiCheat_EOSSys' does not support bypassing I/O. Supported functions: 0x4”. I can’t play the game now and I have absolutely no idea how to fix it

Hey there, sorry this has happened but i can provide you some steps to take to help resolve this concern.
The "EasyAntiCheat_EOSSys does not support bypassing I/O. Supported functions: 0x4" warning in the Event Viewer when Apex Legends freezes is a common issue tied to EasyAntiCheat (EAC) compatibility problems, particularly with Windows 11 (especially version 24H2) or specific hardware configurations. This error often causes game crashes or freezes due to conflicts with the file system filter and Bypass IO, which is related to how EAC interacts with your system's storage drivers. Below are steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue based on available information and common fixes:
1. Verify Game Files and Repair EasyAntiCheat
Corrupted game files or EAC installations can cause freezes. Repairing or verifying files may resolve the issue.
- Steam:
- Open Steam, go to your Library, right-click Apex Legends, and select Properties.
- Navigate to Installed Files and click Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for the process to complete, then relaunch the game.
- EA App/Origin:
- Open the EA App, go to My Collection, right-click Apex Legends, and select Repair.
- Repair EAC:
- Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Apex Legends\EasyAntiCheat (or the equivalent EA App path).
- Run EasyAntiCheat_EOS_Setup.exe as administrator.
- Select Apex Legends from the dropdown menu and click Repair Service. If that doesn’t work, try Uninstall and then Install EAC.
- If the .exe closes instantly, try running it from the Apex Legends folder and select "Game 614" (or the appropriate game ID) for repair.
2. Disable Core Isolation and Virtualization-Based Security (VBS)
Core Isolation and VBS can conflict with EAC, causing freezes or crashes.
- Open Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation Details.
- Turn off Memory Integrity.
- Restart your PC and test the game.
- Note: Disabling these features may slightly reduce system security, so re-enable them after testing if they don’t resolve the issue.

I have the same issue, Apex will crash due to the IO bypass error. The game will just close out randomly with no error provided. I have to find the error in event viewer after the fact.
I am not able to follow your steps 3 and 4 under the Repair EAC steps, running it as admin just has it instant close with no option to select anything. I have reinstalled it entirely, but that did not resolve my issue.
I will not be disabling VBS due to security concerns. So I cannot try that option.
I do not understand how this has not been fixed yet? Googling this error code throws many results of people having the same issue for about a year now with all games using EAC.
I have updated my mobo bios, tried multiple nvidia drivers people claim to solve this, verified game files via Steam, dism/sfc commands in cmd. I have reinstalled the C++ x86 and x64
I have tried just about everything mentioned in all the posts I've found online. Nothing has fixed the problem and disabling security settings in Windows does not feel like a good compromise.
Has anyone found a solution to this that does not include buying an SSD that doesn't support IO bypass or disabling Virtualization based security? - E9ine_AC31 days agoHero+
Yea, im afraid the VBS most likely may be your concern. It was for my with my version of windows and hardware. Disabling it allowed me to play. While i have raised this concern to EA hopefully they find a remedy for this to not be a issue in the future. It though may be your only option to play the game is disabling it.
Core isolation on its own is important. As it can prevent scripts or code from being executed on your machine to elevate security priv for another user.
In theory if you only play apex and dont download anything while playing apex and its disabled you will be fine. I run bit defender in place of windows defender which bit defender then picks up the slack of me disabling core isolation within windows defender. Bit defender being one of the top used anti-virus softwares on the market right now will handle core isolation on their end.
