Intermittent FPS Drops and Stuttering After the Latest Easy Anti-Cheat Update
Hello,
I am experiencing intermittent FPS drops and stuttering in Apex Legends after the latest Easy Anti-Cheat update.
Before the update, Apex Legends ran normally on the same computer with the same graphics settings. Since the update, the average FPS is usually still normal, but the game occasionally experiences sudden frame-time spikes, brief freezes, and noticeable stuttering.
The problem is intermittent and may occur while moving around the map, during combat, or when multiple visual effects and objects are being rendered. It does not appear to be limited to a specific map, weapon, or game mode.
Issue Summary
- The problem started after the latest Easy Anti-Cheat update.
- The game now experiences intermittent FPS drops and stuttering.
- The average FPS is not always low, but frame-time spikes and short freezes occur.
- The same computer and graphics settings worked normally before the update.
- Other Apex players have reported similar performance problems after the recent anti-cheat update.
Windows Event Viewer Evidence
I found repeated errors in Windows Event Viewer. The same error appears approximately once per minute:
Log Name: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing/Admin
Source: Kernel-EventTracing
Event ID: 2
Task Category: Session
Level: Error
Operation: Start
Time: 2026-09-05 03:39:12
Session Name: dc3a3596-71e1-45a3-b2ea-39ad5322fe51
Error Code: 0xC0000022
Decimal Error Code: 3221225506
Logging Mode: 4194560
The error code 0xC0000022 corresponds to STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED.
The event does not explicitly mention Easy Anti-Cheat. However, the repeated event-tracing errors started around the same time as the FPS drops and stuttering. This makes me suspect that Easy Anti-Cheat may be failing to initialize one of its monitoring or event-tracing components and repeatedly retrying.
These repeated retries may be contributing to CPU usage, frame-time spikes, or intermittent stuttering during gameplay.
Expected Behavior
Apex Legends should maintain stable frame times and consistent performance after an Easy Anti-Cheat update.
Actual Behavior
After the latest Easy Anti-Cheat update, Apex Legends experiences:
- Intermittent FPS drops
- Sudden frame-time spikes
- Short freezes
- Stuttering during movement and combat
- Performance that is worse than before the update
Windows Event Viewer also repeatedly reports the Kernel-EventTracing Event ID 2 error with error code 0xC0000022.
System Information
Game: Apex Legends
Anti-cheat: Easy Anti-Cheat
Operating system: Windows 11

I have attached a screenshot from Windows Event Viewer showing the repeated Kernel-EventTracing Event ID 2 errors.
Request
Could you please investigate whether the latest Easy Anti-Cheat update is causing repeated event-tracing initialization failures or performance problems on Windows 11?
In particular, please check whether the following error is a known issue with the latest EAC update:
Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-EventTracing/Admin
Event ID: 2
Error: 0xC0000022
The event itself may not conclusively prove that Easy Anti-Cheat is the direct cause, but its timing closely matches the beginning of the FPS drops and stuttering. Please confirm whether this is a known issue and whether an Easy Anti-Cheat driver update or hotfix is planned.
Thank you.
