My Battlefield 6 Day-One Experience & Missing Compensation
I pre-ordered Battlefield 6 on the EA App, excited to jump in on release day. Like many others, I was immediately blocked by the infamous “Installation of content” error.
EA publicly promised compensation for players affected by this issue. Unfortunately, I never received mine.
Support Experience
I submitted a ticket to EA Support, but the only replies I’ve received are generic copy-paste responses. The message I keep getting is: “Everyone affected has already received their compensation.”
Well, apparently I’m not counted among “everyone.”
My Day-One Misadventure
- I came home from work in Europe, ready to play. I had pre-installed the game to avoid delays.
- On launch, I was greeted with the error message.
- Following advice I found on the official Battlefield Discord (where I post under the name MadTed), I tried reinstalling the missing DLC. With my slow connection, this process took hours — and still didn’t resolve the issue.
- The community was scrambling for solutions. One workaround was spamming the server join button. Eventually, I managed to enter a Portal server.
- I played for about 10 minutes, but it was a terrible experience — nothing close to the Battlefield gameplay I paid for.
- By 00:30, I gave up and went to bed, frustrated and disappointed.
Conclusion
The only explanation I can see for being excluded from compensation is that EA counted my brief 10 minutes in a Portal server as “accessing the game.” But that was not real access — we couldn’t play single-player or official multiplayer modes.
I’m not alone in this. Others in the community were also excluded.
- Players should not be punished for trying to find workarounds to access a game they paid full price for.
- A few minutes in a broken Portal server should not disqualify us from compensation.
I sincerely hope EA investigates this issue and ensures that all affected players receive the promised compensation. Right now, many of us feel ignored and unfairly treated.

Let's give it a try with yet another new thread. I'm sure the "community managers" will pay a lot of attention. They are getting paid for their flawless communication skills and services, after all.
This entire platform is a joke and I will never spend money on it again. This is not how you treat long time paying customers.
EA please hire new people that actually care. Maybe some competition will get these lazy CM's to actually do their job.

They paid enough attention to merge the new thread into the main thread, but still zero response. So they definitely are paying attention; they just don't care.

I just want to point out that Vince Zampella officially stated, that if you played Portal during this issue, you are eligble for the compensation.
Which make the entire situation even worse. - unun3410 days agoNew Spectator
Just adding my name to the list of people affected. So disappointing.
