Game crash at start

I might have found a "fix" for the game crash at splash screen. The Hardware_Settings_Config.xml File isn't populating the correct information for your system. I basically did this on a gut feeling, but it worked,. After doing a comparison to see what was causing it to literally blue screen my system. I could see that F1 25 had literally the most extreme values that would never work, and missing info from my system, compared to the F1 24 hardware config files. I copied and pasted my Hardware_Settings_Config.xml file from F1 24 to F1 25,.  I can now actually get into the game and at least go to the settings menu to make any changes needed. The game still crashes anytime I try to run the benchmark to insure the settings are to my liking. So this isn't foolproof, but maybe this will help others experiencing the same issues. The file path is in your Doucments/MyGames/F1 25/hardwaresettings/hardware_settings_config.xml

I suspect the issue is primarily affecting users with multiple monitors running at 1440P resolution, as that is the setup I am currently using.  Hope this helps someone at least gain some progress in getting the game to work for them.

  • This is great info, but it only works if you've been able to launch the game previously. The "My Games" folder is only created after first launch, so if you've never got that far, this won't work. Thank you for sharing though! Hopefully it helps someone out.

  • Well, whatever they updated just about bricked my system. Went into a never ending cycle of blue screens of death. Fortunately I had a restore point before the game files updated. And now, I can't even get F1 24 to even start or run.... Only F1 games I can run now are Pre-EA.

EA get your **bleep** together, everything your company touches in the PC world goes straight to crap. Stop using ChatGP2 to write your code..... Majority of PC gamers are not using a potato PC....

you are right.  my game never ran far enough to create this folder.  i fixed it and got my game running.  my "documents" folder was pointing to a network drive (my NAS).  i changed it to be a local drive and my game ran.  i think there are multiple causes for this crash.  if you do have your documents folder on a network drive, changing it to a local drive is one thing to try.

bluescreens are often caused by the system, the error code of the bluescreen would always be helpful.
i would check the windows for errors, especially if a problematic windows update has been installed recently. in addition, i would try an older nvidia driver, EA recommends at least version 576.52 but i have written to some people who had extreme problems with it and only an older driver helped.
