Bug Report – FC26 Input Stutter / Double Press Issue (Keyboard & Controller)

Game: EA SPORTS FC 26
Platform: PC (Steam + EA App)
OS: Windows 11
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
CPU: 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700K (3.40 GHz)
Input Devices tested: DualSense PS5 controller (Bluetooth), Keyboard

Issue Description

After installing the game from Steam, I encountered a controller stutter issue during the initial setup and menu navigation:

  • A single press on a button/direction resulted in a double action (e.g., one press = two moves in the menu).

To troubleshoot, I:

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the game.
  • Deleted the initial settings folder and generated new ones.

-> After doing this, the issue was temporarily fixed.

However, today the issue came back, and after repeating the same troubleshooting steps, the problem changed:

  • Instead of double presses, now the input stutters/freezes for one step when navigating menus or moving in-game.
  • Double presses are sometimes not recognized at all.

This happens on both PS5 controller and keyboard, so it is not device-specific.

Expected Behavior

  • A single press should always result in a smooth single action.
  • Menu navigation and gameplay movement should not stutter or skip inputs.
  • Double presses should be recognized correctly.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install FC26 from Steam.
  2. Start the game and navigate through the initial setup or main menu.
  3. Press left/right or up/down once at a time.
-> Sometimes one press = two actions (double move), or the press stutters/freezes.
  4. Repeat the test with both PS5 controller and keyboard.
    -> Same issue occurs.

Frequency

  • Occurs consistently every time the game is launched.
  • Bug reappears even after reinstalling and resetting settings.

Additional Notes

  • This issue did not occur in FC25 on the same hardware.
  • It looks like a bug in input handling for single presses, affecting both controller and keyboard.
