Bugging matches in Division Rivals by taking pause

I was grinding weekly points in Division Rivals and came across an interesting player. At first glance, he didn't seem suspicious. First action, I scored a goal and noticed that the player wasn't moving at all. I thought he might have stepped away from his computer and would be back soon. How wrong I was. He took a pause after conceding the goal (I thought he just needed a moment to get back into the game). The entire pause time elapsed and suddenly, it didn't switch me back to the gameplay screen; I was stuck on the replay screen the whole time. I thought it was some kind of bug and that the player would quit himself, since I had a bit of time and hadn't wanted to quit, just to wait for him to leave because of this issue. I realized something was really wrong when a notification popped up in the game saying I was losing and that I should maybe think about changing my formation. The first half ended. It turned out the match had been going on the whole time, and from me leading 1:0, it had become 1:3 for the opponent. I got back into the game after halftime, scored to make it 2:3, and the player did the same thing again – he bugged the pause and I couldn't return to the game. In my opinion, this was not normal and they should have looked into it, especially considering how many players bought their game every year – situations like that shouldn't have been happening. I should also have added that when the player had bugged the pause, the only things that had worked on my controller were changing the formation, offensive/defensive tactics, and team pressing, etc.
