FC 26 sudden FPS drops (8-10), GPU stuck at 100% and game running slow
I found a possible solution for a very strange FC 26 performance issue that may help other players.
The problem
FC 26 was running perfectly at first, but suddenly started having extreme FPS drops:
- Menus dropping to very low FPS. (8-10)
- GPU usage stuck between 95-100%.
- CPU usage staying low.
- The entire game becoming slow (menus and matches).
- Restarting the game temporarily fixed the issue.
I tried different fixes, including checking the game installation, settings and configuration files, but the problem kept coming back.
What I discovered
The game worked perfectly on a new Windows user account.
The problem appeared only after I logged into OneDrive on that user and allowed it to synchronize some files.
Even after closing OneDrive, the FPS problem remained, which made it difficult to identify the cause.
Solution that worked
- Open OneDrive settings.
- Go to Account.
- Select "Unlink this PC".
- Disable OneDrive from starting with Windows.
- Restart the PC.
After removing the OneDrive connection, FC 26 returned to normal performance.
Conclusion
It seems that OneDrive can create some kind of conflict with the Windows user profile, possibly involving configuration files, permissions or cached files used by FC 26.
If FC 26 works correctly on a new Windows user but starts having severe FPS drops after enabling OneDrive, try unlinking OneDrive before reinstalling the game, changing drivers or formatting Windows.
