DirectX Crash After Fast Travel
This has happened to me twice now and both times it happened immediately after fast traveling. I believe it's safe to say that there is something with fast traveling that is causing crashes with GPU'...
Ideas
for me i freeze and have to hold the power button on my machine when it happens. ill SOMETIMES get that error you got in your directx_error.png but 99% of the time it just hard freezes my entire system and also it seems very random and not related to fast travel in my case.
Dang I haven't had that happen to me yet. Luckily it just freezes and locks up and then crashes to desktop and displays that DirectX Error for me for now. It's done it once per day so far. If it does it again tomorrow I'll come pack and post again.
One interesting thing to note is that when it crashes to the desktop, it completely quits out of the game and quits out of Steam even. I noticed this when Steam was no longer running in my taskbar afterwards. I also noticed my desktop icons were all gone and bugged out. The crash basically made me have to end the "explorer.exe" process and re-initialize it from the task manager in order to fix the problem. Either that or just restarting fixes it too.
hey, so i decided to test whether or not this is a steam issue or not and moved to the EA App, which i now have 11 hours on. i've had no crashes or freezes ever since and does seem to be a steam specific thing from what i can tell or i've been insanely lucky. however, for sure on steam it would have froze/crashed for me about 2-6 times in that time frame but didnt at all on EA App. something to keep in mind and try if you havent yet!
