I got a new message box i've never seen before now. (At least it didn't hang my entire system up this time)
Event Viewer showed:

The game skate.exe exited unexpectedly, exit code: 0x887A0006

However, after rebooting the game, not even 10 minutes later I got the hard system crash again.
