Stuck falling into the sea

My son has been playing this game on PS5 heaps but since yesterday he has been having this weird issue.. 

When he loads into the game, he's being dropped out into the ocean. It keeps resetting and he just falls again into the seas.

He tries teleporting to another players spot and then can't do anything, can't move at all and now buttons don't work to go to menu or anything! Have to close the game down.

Can I please get some help to get it working for him again, hate to lose his progress and the game.
