After today's era upgrade currency update, I find myself unable to bring my level 70 5 star marquees beyond level 75 without spending thousands of crystals on level 26-35 material packs.
At the moment of finishing Tier 2 of the Andor event, we've received:
6700 mk 7 Aurek Ability Modules
330 mk7 Masterwork Performance Cores
which, in my situation, was an equivalent of five level 70 -> 75 upgrades, or more - allowing me to potentially reach relic levels on some of my Era units without spending any money.
Now, however, I am required to spend 4500 mk 3 Esk Ability Modules on one level 70 -> 75 upgrade:
a singular pack in the Era store provides a 75% chance at 185 materials at a ~600 crystal price.
Meaning, what was once a reasonable f2p investment is now equal to thousands of crystals'
(4500 per character total, assuming the least profitable outcomes: ~25 packs per character, 25x600 = 15k crystals per character, multiplied by between 4 and 6 that characters I was ready for: amounting to a LOT) worth of packs - on top of any other lower level materials that I had not needed before the update arrived.
In the calculations above I did not include other materials that I have enough for 1 character, but may lack compared to the original, very careful planning I had while making sure I have enough crystals hoarded to begin with.
My guildmates who had upgraded their marquees to level 70 are facing similar issues, varying on our levels of investment below/above individual level 75s.
This is especially hurtful because I spent around 24k crystals to ensure I had enough shards for a 5* Cassian Andor, and by allowing this situation to continue I am losing not only the obtained upgrade materials that i cannot spend on my 5 star units, but also a large portion of to-be gear 13+ levels on those units - including the newly available (more available) Zeta upgrades by level 85.
