I just opened my sims game playing with adventure awaits and decided to talk to the collector kid. while i was talking to him a copy of him showed up? I've tried to search for this bug and it hasn't showed up.
Today I also encountered a Collector clone. I'm using mods, but I don't think they're the cause (they replace the name list for generated NPCs and have new icons for hobby clubs)
