I can try that for a bit. But again, this is completely new for my sim, since I moved her to Nordhaven (the day of release). Also, I did take a look at the old "Mourning Moodlet" forum post that you had linked; while that issue was sort of similar to what my sim has been experiencing, it's not quite the same.
I didn't link it because it's the same, I'm just saying it's design that you get death notifications for acquaintances. That bug was fixed. Maybe because of the business, she just knows more people than before ?
crinrict, the "knowing more people" because of her business may be it. There are a lot of random sims that come to her business once or twice only, but I make it her business to "Welcome to Business" as many sims that show up as possible. She has a lot of folks that she 'knows', but has only spoken two once or twice.
