Not sure what just happened. I've been having the same issue with going to a loading screen and the employees just vanishing from the Small Business panel. However, my sim got abducted by aliens last night while the business was open, so I switched to the other household member until she came back. She comes back, I send her back to work, and employees are gone. I didn't go into any loading screens, just switched household members. Same household.
