[BH] Sim constantly doing 'Prank toilet' interaction

Now, he always only toilets mischief. His only Autonomous behavior is toilets mischief. Even when he's hungry, he doesn't take any Autonomous behavior to eat. No matter how many times I delete his actions, he keeps taking the action to toilets mischief. This happens not only with playable characters, but also with NPCs. I saw him at a bar and he was setting up pranks in all the restrooms. He's never done this before.
This didn't happen at least three months ago, so something might have happened in the recent update. I think the nuisance customer flag in Business & Hobbies is a problem.
He's one of my favorite Sims, so I absolutely cannot delete him. I'm really struggling with not being able to play with my family with this Sim. Please fix this soon.

His traits are as follows:
Creative, Bookworm, Perfectionist, Neat, SelfAssured

Note by crinrict

After some testing, I found that the Sim has a commodity for the small business prankster. Removing that stops the autonomy behavior of pranking the toilet.

I suspect, it got stuck on the Sim from when he was a disruptive customer but I havent' done any testing on the cause.

Note from EA_Solaire:

Hello all,

If any of you are still encountering this on the latest game version (without mods), would you be willing to share your save file(s)?

If so, please send me a private message with a link to the file. Instructions can be found here: https://forums.ea.com/idea/the-sims-4-bug-reports-en/information-how-to-send-user-files-to-the-sims-4-team/5048472

Thanks!

    Hi Yoursugarvenom

no, placing them again won't fix the issue. It's a stuck commodity but you'll need mods to remove that. Should be possible to do with MCCC.

EA is still looking for saves though so please check out the first post.

I already submitted my save file a long time ago. But this is not a save file issue. This will keep happening unless you actually fix it. I've also shared the affected Sim on the Gallery, so downloading that Sim should make the cause immediately obvious, so why hasn't this been fixed yet?
Because of this bug, console players can't run small businesses or even visit lots, since any of their precious Sims could get broken the same way. If you don't have the ability to fix this, then please add an ON/OFF toggle for nuisance customers to the game options right now. Please stop breaking our precious Sims.

this is literally in a PlayStation topic. im on console. we don't have mods available. I literally had to make her twin and then transfer everything over about her and break all her & her household relationships and redownload and reconnect the family to get it to stop. like can we just fix the game I shouldn't have spent $1000 on a game and the is advice is to use mods ON PLAYSTATION. I'm so tired.

respectfully they need to stop with the toggle on off buttons for every freaking bug on this game. they're like oh just turn this off! no need to fix!! or just install this mod!! forget console players!! to the point where it's like I've spent $1,000 to play the pos base game, because to get it to work properly you have to toggle the packs/paid for content off. which i paid for EVERY ONE. and then something else stupid happens anyway and i have to reset the game. I don't want to be able to turn off packs that I paid for because they won't fix it. they need to fix it. they're out of passes. i dont want work arounds. its been out for a decade.

I understand exactly how you feel. I've lost several of my precious Sims to this bug too. And because I don't want to lose any more, I've had to stop running small businesses and even visiting lots altogether.
I've posted here many times and have been raising this issue for a long time, but nothing has changed, so I've come to the conclusion that EA doesn't have the ability to fix this bug. If that's the case, I'd at least like an option to turn it off added, so I can enjoy small businesses without losing any more Sims. I'm honestly exhausted from dealing with this issue.
Fixing it properly should always be the priority — I'm not saying "just let us turn it off instead of fixing it." I only brought up the toggle because I've been reporting this specific bug for years with zero progress, and I've genuinely run out of patience waiting. A toggle was meant as a last resort, not a replacement for an actual fix. But you're right that EA leaning on "just disable the content you paid for" as a permanent answer isn't okay, especially for console players who can't even use mods as a workaround. A decade in, we shouldn't have to choose between playing the packs we bought and keeping our Sims alive.

no that's totally valid I agree but I do want something to be clear it's not that they can't fix things like this occurring on console, they're just choosing not to. because when there's is a broader scale issue that affects PC and console, as long as it may take, it is focused on and repaired. but for some reason they don't really care about console issues. like I genuinely do not believe that they can't. this isn't me calling you or your statement disingenuous btw. I'm just so tired of the Sims team totally BSing console players because we're not a large enough demographic to them.  I'm sorry but if my two grand for all content wasn't worth it enough for them to fix the game then give it back!!

  • My Sim keeps autonomously pranking the toilets on the lot over and over again. I checked her personality traits, and she completely lacks the Goofball trait (it is grayed out and unselected). Instead, she has the Cheerful, High Maintenance, and Heart on Your Sleeve traits. A logic bug in the game's autonomy engine seems to be overriding her personality. Because she is High Maintenance, she frequently gets negative moodlets, and her Cheerful trait constantly pushes her into a Playful mood to compensate. Once she enters that Playful mood, the game's AI forces her to autonomously prank the toilet to satisfy the emotion, completely failing to check that she isn't actually a Goofball Sim. Steps I have taken to try to fix it myself: First, I opened up Create-a-Sim (CAS) to verify her trait loadout and confirm that Goofball is definitely not assigned to her. Second, I checked her Likes and Dislikes panel to ensure she doesn't have an active preference for Mischief driving the behavior. Third, I tracked her mood changes to see what triggers the action, which confirmed the loop happens specifically when her High Maintenance and Cheerful traits interact to make her Playful.

Toilet Pranks, funny or obtrusive? The debate is still open, but they're certainly rather problematic at a Restaurant or Small Businesses. We've made it so they won't happen in these situations. (Dine Out and Businesses & Hobbies)

    Fixed in Patch 1.129.39/2.40

Please create a new thread if you're still experiencing issues

It's possible that already affected Sims still have issues after the patch.
