Just had this happen to me. Had a masterpiece disappear, replaced it with another while I looked for it and then saw my employee walk over and scrap it from the wall (not the display and not an easel, but just a regular wall).
I'm on PC with mods disabled and no CC.
Update: in playing further, it seems the "scrap" action is completely bugged. Despite removing this action, my employee is now scrapping paintings as I'm currently working on them, even when the business is closed (she came to visit one night and I was trying to hit the masterpiece task for the painter aspiration and she literally scrapped it while I was still working on it).
