Placed a library from the gallery that I had made earlier. It's showing up as a black square, and when sims try to travel there the screen gets stuck endlessly on the loading screen while live mode noises are audible in the background. Tried going to build mode on that lot but it loaded the lot and then froze: couldn't go up or down a level, enable the grid, anything.

Could you post the name of the lot you downloaded and the creator so I can check if I can duplicate ?
Is this an older save you tried ? Did you never have mods/cc or did you remove them ?

I’m also having the same issue with the game libraries. I was unable to go to the library for my sim’s lawyer career to do research.

Yes. The University Library (Britechester) and Willow Creek’s library show up with the black square over them. I just redownloaded Sims 4 so no mods have been added.
Quad Manor library loads though.
Could you start a new save for testing to see if the same happens there ? If it does, please repair your game.
The game crashed when I tried to go to the Britechester library with the new save.

You said you just downloaded the game, is that the game itself or did you just buy the Uni pack and installed that ?
