When wearing a wide floor-length dress, like the base game wedding dress, indoors, now instead of having a soft round shadow below the dress, Sims in such clothes are casting very thick dark shadows that are cut-off in a rectangle visibly. The wider the dress, the worse the effect, especially when the Sim is walking too.
This effect looks like there has been potentially a performance optimisation that is now making shadows look really ugly and broken, and they even flicker on and off when moving into different angles. I also observed that the shadows below Sims indoors generally became darker than they were before, and show and hide suddenly depending on angle.
Repro steps:
- Have your Sim wear the basegame wide wedding dress as in the photo
- walk with them indoors
- move the camera close to them, as when you are too far away the shadows sometimes disappear altogether
I'm playing on highest graphic settings, and have experienced this both on mac and PC, since mid 2024, around the time when Lovestruck patches released. It also happens to wide CC floor-length dresses that had no such graphical issues before, but I tested this without mods and CC. I have all packs and am playing on the latest game patch from January 2025.
