In this section, I’d like to report a few issues that are mainly aesthetic in nature. They aren’t glaring, so I assume they should be easy to fix. Mostly, it’s about objects casting shadows incorrectly, but there are a few other things as well. However, I don’t want to create a new thread for each of these issues, so as not to clutter up the forum.
I tested these issues in both the vanilla version of the game, with absolutely no mods, and in the modded version.
I assume, however, that even after removing mods from the game, it may still contain information left behind by those mods, so it’s not entirely clear to me how significant this is. I don’t use mods that add new gameplay, but I do use mods like “MCCC,” “Better Build Buy” or “Better Exceptions.”
Getting down to specifics:
Some objects, like the awnings in the screenshot, don’t cast light properly. The glass parts should let light through. In this case, it’s not a major issue, but considering that many other glass objects don’t have this problem, I think it could be fixed.
Another issue: some objects have shading problems after being scaled up or down (those marked in black, red, and orange). The shadows become distorted or clipped and simply look bad. For some reason, many of these objects are toys or children’s items.
In the case of other objects, like the teddy bear (marked in pink), its eyes disappeared from its face after it was scaled down. On the other hand, the star from the Christmas set (marked in white) doesn’t scale down at all. Its shadow does, but not the star itself.
I know that different studios are responsible for different add-ons, but there’s a clear inconsistency here. Here are some examples from the photo marked in green. I don’t understand this.
I'm also wondering about the mirrors. You can make them smaller or larger, but then the glass part glitches. Is this an oversight on the developers' part, or were mirrors never meant to have that option?
There’s a glitch on the balcony of one of the apartments in San Myshuno. Apparently, the warped walls and railings in this apartment (I’m not sure if this applies only to this one or to others as well) are causing these distortions. It seems to me that a similar problem exists or existed with the platforms. I don’t know if it’s been fixed yet.
Another issue is connecting the fence to the foundation when building a fence from ground level. It seems to me that where the fence meets the foundation, the fence should end with a post (as shown in the photo marked in black). From what I’ve checked, not all fences have this problem.
That's all for this thread. Maybe other players have also found some bugs related to objects that the developers could address. I know the game has much more serious issues, but I thought it was worth mentioning this as well, because even though these aren't major problems, they can still spoil the fun of the game. If I find more objects that are broken, I’ll update this thread. The things I’ve listed are probably just a small fraction of them. Sorry for bringing up different things in a single thread, but as I wrote: I don’t want to clutter up the forum.
