Build mode messing up live mode

Hello,

so my sims updated last night (not sure what patch haven’t played in a while.) But I’m currently playing the plant sims challenge. And everything was fine building my house, but since I started  playing the challenge, if I enter build mode and make a change, and then exit build mode, all the menus on the side of the screen in live mode disappear, I can’t select on anything to interact with it, I have to exit the game and restart it just to be able to continue to play. I did play one of my other save files to see maybe if it was just that game file, and I’m finding I’m having issues with menus on certain items, like the Scouts badge board the menu doesn’t drop down when you want to see progress. Just random things no longer act like they did. Please help, thank you!

Could you please provide the following information

    • Are you using mods/cc in your game ? Please remove them and test without them if you do.
    • What platform are you playing ?
    • A screen shot
    • Do you have any LastException files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 ?

      - Delete the ones you have
      - Trigger the error again
      - Check if new ones are created
      - If that is the case, please copy/paste the content here. You can open the file with any text editor.

Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Posting the info is meant for troubleshooting.

    • The scout badge is a known issue. Please use this thread: [S] Scouts Badge Progress UI missing text | EA Forums - 12212617

Hello Sorry for the lack of info, I am new to this.

I am not using any mods or CC.

I am playing on my windows gaming laptop.

I have attached a screenshot below of the issue, and I have circled in red the menus that are messed up or missing. Once this happens I have tried everything to get the menus to come back, but ultimately you can't do anything until you repair and restart the game, I also cannot get that camera control menu to go away, even in live mode.

    (More info below image)

I deleted the last exception files, and tried again. The image above is when the error was triggered again after the deletion.

Just one new last exemption was created when the error happened again. That info is below.

I hope this info helps you solve the problem. I was able to trigger the error within 5 mins of opening the game again. I opened build mode as soon as I got into the game and closed it after changing something, error did not trigger the first time, I went into build mode about 3 mins later and closed it after moving something, and the error happened just like all the other times.

    Thank you

    Hellocrinrict

I've read through this thread, do you think there is a way to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling? I would really like to keep my save files.

    Thanks

I'm yet to encounter this myself so I don't know what's causing it. It's a bug though so it can come back anytime even if you get rid of it. It could even be save related. I don't know.

Backup your user folder before reinstalling. Usually user files aren't removed on reinstalling but to be safe, it's the best to do.

93Catastrophe the issue might be connected to the scenario. Don't know if getting rid of it is an option for you but could you test on a backup of ending the scenario gets rid of the issue for you ?

It happens with me often with the Curious Scenario, with and without mods, vanilla entirely, but also happens out of scenarios, just seemingly less. I recently deleted the entire directory and my saves, uninstalled, and reinstalled. It's done it since in both a created household game and a scenario.
