I had a burglar coming to my Sim's house and steal things. My Sim woke up, I clicked the option to call the police station and got the notification that they are on their way, but nothing happened. The burglar stole a few items and left and no one showed up. Is this intended and normal that the police won't show up every time or is it a bug?

Yeah I have the burglar alarm which seems to stop the burglar stealing anything, but the police have never showed up - it's happened a couple of times now.
Also why does a child need to "route to safety" as if there were a fire, just for a burglar? They're a burglar, not a kidnapper, and even if they were a kidnapper the child would not be safer standing outside the front door than they are in their study room inside the house.
I repaired the game and generated a new Sims 4 folder, It works. I added my mods, it works. When I want to play on my old save, it doesn't work. I checked with the MCC to see if the police have a hidden trait, they don't.
If I delete the police officer on a working save game, a new police officer will appear.
Maybe older save games can't assign a Sim to the role and/or generate a new Sim. I added the police officer from the working save to my old save without removing his role, it works.
I don't want to have Marcus Flex twice in my game, so I'm waiting for a fix or a mod that will allow me to manually assign the role to him or another Sim. By the way, Marcus Flex doesn't have a NPC role in my old save that could block the assignment.
English is not my native language, please don't blame me..
Another consideration, what are lot traits? Private Dwelling prevents/prevented even Pizza delivery, wondering... Also, is lot a Rental unit, vacation rental, or apartment? Some sims didnt know how to deliver to apartments though still took your money anyways

I also have this issue. Discovered it while i was playing completely vanilla in a fresh save. Tried moving to a base game world but no change
My Sim called the police multiple times and the police never showed - this is in a mod free save, created before the update, though only about a month old. I had the lot challenge on to make burglaries worse - I know it says it will make the alarm less dependable, maybe the police too?
If relevant, I do have Get to Work but have not played the detective career in this save.
Did you move the whole mods folder to the desktop and delete the localthumbcache file ?
I am having this very same problem! All mods are up to date. I temporarily removed my mods, reinstalled my game and tried again and I'm still having the same issue
Are you using mods/cc in your game ?
