When trying to build an underground level on the Comfortably Canalside lot in Nordhaven, the camera won't go to the lower level as expected. See the video attached. The only way to go down is to use TAB mode, but that's an issue for gameplay as you can only see things from above.
Tested without mods, I also asked if other people were facing that issue and they confirmed it.
I think I already faced this issue on the Larry's Lagoon lot in Britechester.
Chiming in for Fisher's Horizon lot in Nordhaven. I made a house there with basement level and the camera keeps jumping up as if there's an obstacle on the entire basement. Unable to zoom in if I'm near it. If I punt the camera away it can zoom as usual, but not near the building...

Honestly I think it just a flaw in game design which is very annoying.
Steps to reproduce: build a basement or under ground abode. Scroll around to find pet or sim. Certain parts of the structure normally around stairs it will not allow you to zoom to zoom in and will automatically zoom you out when trying to look there.
I bult a beautiful under ground house. A click on my tiny puppies icon but can find him as I am not allow to zoom in. If you could please adjust the code so we can smoothly move the map around stairs or any other potentially outlier. Because it is so annoying I am considering destroying the beatiful lot above to build up instead. ( would be nice it you could add hidden stairways too that stop guest knoying there is anthing underneath)

I noticed that too when I tested other worlds. They work. The camera in the basement is extremely bad!
ME TOO!!! This is issue is terrible for gameplay and its definitely in Nordhaven with no mods or cc. For me its the Rouge Note lot.
No cc or Mods, it happens on all lots with underground sections. I had my last house in new haven, one family in willow Creek. Try another on oasis Springs and eventually relocated to Innisgreen. The vacant lot with the lake. I built underground as didn't want to destroy the look of the lot and like the idea of a mostly secret house like my oasis house had. And yes like the above video
The camera doesn't zoom in on the underground areas of the Granite Falls lot, so you can only view the underground from above, which is very annoying.
OMG😯 I was wondering if this was a problem in my game alone, so thank you for posting here for others to see. True indeed, it's a basement in Nordhaven that I'm having issues with the camera bouncing. Muffled sounds. Can only get closer to the ground while in the "dark abyss" as OP stated. Basements in other worlds do not present this problem.
