After I place one item the next item I select won't place, it flips back to where it was previously, or is carries around by my mouse indefinitely. I found by clicking a different tool across the top...

This has happened on multiple lots while playing in two vanilla saves on PC. When I try to place an object from the catalogue or my household inventory, the item will be deselected before I've been able to place the item.
This happened on the lots Old Torget House in Nordhaven and The Cozy Corner House in Chestnut Ridge. This doesn't happen with every item placed, but at a certain point, items start disappearing. If I place it very quickly before it disappears, it's fine, but if I am too slow, it deselects before I've had time to place it.
If I move an object from the lot, it will go into my inventory if I am too slow to place it. The more this happens, the quicker the time between selection and deselection is.
I'm playing with most packs except Enchanted by Nature, Star Wars and some of the kits. This only started happening after the latest patch. I've had the issue with mailboxes and infant cribs from the catalogue and crafted chairs from the household inventory.
I had this the other day, too. I hadn't had it happen for a long time, so was surprised to see it again. This happened when I tried to place a new crib.
Vanilla game, no mods or cc. All packs, except some kits.
