After I place one item the next item I select won't place, it flips back to where it was previously, or is carries around by my mouse indefinitely. I found by clicking a different tool across the top...
Ideas
This glitch happens randomly, tested with and without mods to make sure it wasn't outdated mods causing the issue. When in build mode I am unable to place items, or move already placed items, it doesn't come up saying it's unable to place it is like the game can't detect that I am trying to place anything. The only way I have found a fix temporarily is closing the game and reopening it.

Hi! I have this same bug and can't find a more relevant thread than this one, I only found some that are vaguely similar but with different specifics (or less information).
What happens is build mode works for a while normally, until the bug occurs at which point nothing can be placed, moved, or otherwise altered at all. Undo etc does not work. It always triggered after editing roof and wall pieces. Reloading the game will let it work for a short while, but the glitch happens again very quickly (though not after a set number of items placed/moved). There are no error messages at all. I had the bug in Everdew on the Watering Hole lot, in Innisgreen. I encountered this bug a couple weeks ago (before the Sept 18th patch), and got frustrated enough that I just haven't done much with build mode since then.
I'm on PC Steam, with no mods/cc.

Note he questioned if it was the water in the video, because of an earlier issue that did come from building over a pond, but I was not building over a pond when encountering this bug.
I’m having a very similar problem but I could place items, just not move or delete them. That and also I’ll create a new room and it will randomly delete segments of an adjacent room’s walls that make literally no sense. Or a wall won’t close to make a room: I’m building a wall and accidentally make it too short. When I try to close the gap nothing happens. As soon as an issue occurs I save it, and it will freeze on the save and I have to force quit. These issues happen ever 5-10 minutes. No mods or cc installed. Have repaired game multiple times. I have werewolves, pets, castle stuff and fancy stuff (? The one with the butler) installed.
