Can't play my sims after creating them...

Once I create my sim(s) I cannot move them into a household. I have removed all mods to ensure this wasn't the issue and cleared my caches. It just restarts me back to where you see all the properties you can move into, and then the new household I was moving disappears. So I go to the main menu to try again but It just keeps happening. I've been unsuccessful in all my attempts to get this fixed. Please help :'( ! I have a Mac computer btw.
