Can't set two mothers/fathers as parents in CAS

I am reporting a critical bug in "The Sims 4" that makes it impossible for same-sex couples to add a second parent for a child in CAS if the child was created separately (not using the "Play with Genetics" option).  As soon as I try to assign the second parent, the first parent reassigns as a household member and vice-versa, instead of both parents staying as the child’s parents.

FIX THIS ASAP! This is ridiculously frustrating and unacceptable! I can’t believe EA missed such a basic but crucial feature. The game is supposed to be LGBTQ+ friendly, but it’s totally broken and same-sex couples can't have children in CAS. Come on, EA this unacceptable. FIX IT NOW!

I've never used CC, briefly used mods but removed them and all of their stray files from my game folder a long time ago.

I also have this problem in CAS. When loading a legacy into a new save, I often have to move the family piecemeal- I move the first 8 onto a lot, move out the majority and only keep the founders, then add the next round of their children and grandchildren- but when the founding couple is same sex, I can only add one of them as a parent and selecting the second parent almost always resets the first to "Household Member". I have noticed that if I use grandchildren, sometimes the connection can be established with the second parent by adding them as grandparent to the child's relationships, but it isn't reliable.

I don't know if this is the same issue or a separate one, but I also cannot have same sex couples adopt each other's kids- if I do it, the next time I go into CAS to edit an outfit, the same sex couple become siblings and can no longer interact romantically. Their relationship panel will read "Spouse, Sister, Soulmate" plus whatever else might make their relationship even weirder.

I can see that this isn't getting a ton of votes, but it is the type of flaw that feels really rough on a personal level- so I hope it lands somewhere on the radar.

I have the same issue and this is completely ridiculous! I wanted to switch to a newer save and a lot of my sims' family relationships are now broken!

Is there some kind of work-around to fix this???

I’m disappointed that this has so few votes because I find it really upsetting. I have two male Sims, one of whom has a daughter from a previous relationship, and I really wanted the other one to adopt her when they got married. I’ve tried everything: cas.fulleditmode, saving the household deleting the child then re-adding her from the library, MCCC (which just completely messed up their family trees). As a queer person this feels like a slap in the face.

Edit: I found a workaround with MCCC! It’s a little convoluted: I changed the gender of one of the parents by clicking on them > MC Command Center > Sim Commands > Maintain Sim > Swap Gender (this will change the gender without changing their clothes or appearance), then I went to MC Command Center > Relationships > Add Relationship > select child Sim > select Mother or Father. Once both adults were set as the parents, I just swapped the adult’s gender back and now the child has two fathers!
