I noticed this a few months ago when I was actively using the addition of pets through neighbor stories. In fact, this is a very unpleasant detail, because of which almost all edited pets for me have the breed "mongrel"
Yes, like, can they please just have actual breeds? Like if they fix this, I want sims in my save to adopt interesting breeds like German Shepherds or Sphynxes via neighborhood stories, not just make it so that they're ALWAYS "mixed breeds"
