[CD] Sims don't do 'Feel the love', Hug or Kiss animation with cats/small dogs

I cannot feel the love with small dogs for some reason. Not sure if it also for cats...didnt check. Edit By crinrict: Added Tag to Title, Adjusted Title

Same problem with my kitten. Just found out that if you pick them up first the hug and let lick face works.

I just tried picking up an adult cat, and the only option (with the cat in the Sim's arms) is to Pet. Then I tried stacking the commands Pick-up and Hug, but again the sim only picked up and pets the adult cat.
