does it matter which hairstyle you give the Sim ?
Might be the same issue as this one: Certain hairstyle become short | EA Forums - 11978463
No other sim in my save seems to have the issue, even other members of the university group that are wearing the same cloths as that sim when her hair is broken all seem fine. I already moved on in my save so can't test other hairstyles but looking at that other report it seems to be the same issue.
