Children won't inherit their parents nose/mouth (bug in genetics)

If I mould a Sim into a certain mouth and nose shape, then these are not inherited correctly and never are. It is as if these specific sliders are not taken into account for inheritance. This bug has also been around since 2015 or so and I have it with and without mods, in new and old savegames. There was a mod for a while that fixed it but it hasn't worked since toddlers came out.
I'm honestly also surprised that no one has ever reported this bug. Or maybe it was reported but didn't get enough me toos. But since I couldn't find it in the search, I thought I'd just report it myself and hope that it might get fixed at some point. Because it's really frustrating.

Here is an example of what I mean. I have the exact same sim twice in CAS for testing purposes and use it once as a father and once as a mother. This means that the child should actually be almost identical to the parents. But it is not. These are not small, random deviations because every single child has a much wider and larger nose and a differently curved mouth.

Vote in the upper right corner in the first post.

  • I have ALWAYS found this to be an issue and annoyance especially in my generational saves. The eyes are never the issue but other aspects of the face never seem to resemble either parent.

I love playing large families for many generations, it's my favorite playstyle. So this bug is really disappointing, and I really hope it gets fixed. I have noticed that their faces change through the generations in a way that isn't fully attributable to genetics, so, this bug is super annoying to me!

  • I get this bug too, we all do. It's not a matter of mods or add ins, it's very upsetting for those of us that play the legacy challenge it would be lovely to get it fixed. For a game that charges almost 2000 dollars in order to get all expansions this bug as well as the many others is just plain shameful.

Do better by your community EA.

it's not a matter of wanting a clone child, it's the fact that on the third generation the offspring has lost all the features connecting them to the parents. Some randomization is fine, i agree with you. But having a third gen sim lose their chin completely and systematically is just bad programming.

Again, for a game that charges close to 2000 dollars, this bug is downright shameful, not even mentioning all the other things that go wrong.

  • please fix this bug! One of the main reasons I’ve loved sims and stuck with it since the beginning is for the genetics and making families. When kids get random noses and no chins, it kind of takes away from that.
