[CRITICAL] Corndog Recipe Completely Invisible and Unusable - Post-Adventure Awaits Patch
Product: The Sims 4
Platform: PC (Windows 11 10.0.26100)
Language: English
Game Version: 1.118.257.1020-1.300.000.223.Release
Packs Installed: All expansion packs (including Adventure Awaits), all game packs, all stuff packs (except Bust the Dust), all owned kits
Mods/CC: None - 100% vanilla game, never used mods. Mod/CC options explicitly disabled in game settings.
Installation: Fresh install of EA App and The Sims 4 on brand new PC (tested on both existing save and completely fresh installation)
Frequency: Every time (100%)
Issue Started: After Adventure Awaits expansion release (October 2, 2025 patch)
Bug Description
When cooking Corndogs, the recipe appears with a blank icon (red X placeholder), and upon completion, the food item is completely invisible. The invisible object temporarily blocks the cooking surface until save/reload, making the recipe completely unusable and wasting simoleons and Sim time.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a new Sim or use existing household
- Build Cooking skill to Level 2 (when Corndogs unlock)
- Select "Cook... > Corndog" from refrigerator or stove
- Allow cooking animation to complete
What Happens
In Cooking Menu:
- Corndog recipe shows blank icon with red X instead of proper food image
During Cooking:
- Cooking animations play normally
- Sim completes the cooking interaction
Upon Completion:
- NO visual food item appears - completely invisible
- Sim acts as if food was created (gets completion notification)
- Counter becomes temporarily unusable - Sim routes to different counter for next cooking action
- Invisible object occupies space on counter (has collision detection)
- After save/reload, invisible object clears and counter becomes usable again
Cannot Be Removed By:
- Clicking (object is invisible)
- Build/Buy mode (doesn't appear)
- bb.moveobjects on cheat (doesn't reveal it)
- Any other cheat or workaround
- Only clears after save/exit/reload
What Should Happen
- Corndog should have proper icon in cooking menu
- Finished food should be visible on counter/in Sim's hand
- Sim should be able to eat or serve the corndog
- Counter should remain usable after cooking
Testing Evidence - Two Scenarios
TEST 1: Existing Save on Initial Installation
Save Details:
- Household with 3 Sims, all with crafting skills
- Save file had been played for multiple sessions post-Adventure Awaits
Results:
- Corndog icon: Blank with red X ✓
- Food visibility: Completely invisible ✓
- Counter blocking: Appeared to block counter, Sim routed to different surface ✓
- Persistence: Unknown (did not test save/reload on this save)
Technical Errors Generated:
- Multiple lastException errors logged:
Exception in Sim Timeline: Exception running Element (AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'simoleon_value_multiplier') Traceback: File "crafting_grab_serving_mixin.py", line 70, in _setup_crafted_object File "crafting_process.py", line 1429, in apply_simoleon_value AttributeError: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'simoleon_value_multiplier'
- Errors occurred at: 00:53:21, 01:04:29, 01:04:38, 01:04:46, 01:04:54
- Game became progressively laggier with each error
TEST 2: Fresh Save on Fresh Installation (After Complete Uninstall/Reinstall)
Installation Process:
- Completely uninstalled The Sims 4 and EA App
- Deleted entire "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4" folder
- Emptied recycle bin (no recovery possible)
- Fresh reinstall of EA App
- Fresh reinstall of The Sims 4 with all owned content
- Configured game settings (mods/CC explicitly disabled)
- Created brand new save file with new Sim
Save Details:
- Single Sim (Casey Sinclair), Critter Hunter aspiration
- Traits: Loves Outdoors, Loner, Practice Makes Perfect
- Brand new lot in Gibbi Point (Adventure Awaits world)
- No legacy data, no previous saves
Results:
- Corndog icon: Blank with red X ✓ (screenshot available)
- Food visibility: Completely invisible ✓ (video available)
- Counter blocking: Sim routes to different counter ✓
- After save/reload: Invisible object clears, counter becomes usable again ✓
- Video evidence captured showing full sequence
Technical Errors Generated:
- NONE - No lastException files created despite bug occurring
- Bug fails silently without error logging
- Makes automatic bug detection impossible
Additional Observation:
- Game auto-created "Mods" folder with resource.cfg file during gameplay
- Folder contains no actual mods (only the config file)
- This occurred despite mods/CC being explicitly disabled in settings
- Suggests potential issues with file handling in current patch
Impact
🔴 BREAKS CORE GAMEPLAY
- Cooking system partially unusable (at minimum this specific recipe, potentially others)
- Wastes simoleons on invisible food
- Wastes Sim time on unusable recipes
- Temporarily blocks cooking surfaces (until save/reload)
🔴 AFFECTS VANILLA GAME
- No mods or CC involved
- Occurs after game repair
- Occurs in brand new saves on fresh installations
- Cannot be fixed by standard troubleshooting
🔴 100% REPRODUCIBLE
- Tested on existing save: Bug present ✓
- Tested after game repair: Bug present ✓
- Tested on fresh installation: Bug present ✓
- Tested in new save on fresh install: Bug present ✓
Suspected Cause
Adventure Awaits patch appears to have corrupted or missing recipe definitions for Corndogs (and potentially other recipes). The game:
- Cannot load the proper icon texture
- Cannot spawn the visual food model
- Creates the object's collision data but not its visual representation
- Fails to assign proper monetary value (simoleon_value_multiplier returns None in older saves)
System Information
- OS: Windows 11 10.0.26100
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050
- Origin Version: 13,566,0,6079
- PC: Brand new system with fresh Windows installation
Media Evidence Available
- Screenshot: Blank corndog icon in cooking menu
- Video: Complete sequence showing corndog cooking and vanishing
- lastException.txt from older save (available if needed)
Related Issues
I am also experiencing a separate but potentially related bug with "Paint from Reference" paintings losing their image data. See my other bug report: [link when posted]
Can anyone else reproduce this issue with Corndogs in vanilla games with the current patch?
EA: This breaks a core cooking recipe in vanilla gameplay and needs urgent attention.
Don't know how to give you the video I captured.
