The price of a painting created using the painting skill will fluctuate each time you change the location of the painting.
I don't know when this issue appear, but at least, I have the pics about this issue during Forever Friend Event on Sep/2025.
The Sim in the attached pics has not yet reached level 10 in painting skill and is not in any job.
When this issue happened in September, the another Sim who drew the picture had level 10 painting skill and a level 10 job rank, Master of the Real. So, I think that the painting skill level of the Sim who painted the paintings or the level of the Painter job is not relevant.
The Paintings need to keep the price as same as finished to paint.
This occured on residential lot type, not on retail lot type. My Sim does't have any retails.
I can confirm this happens on retail lots, too. I had my painter sim open a retail store to sell her paintings, since I thought that'd be more fun than just clicking 'sell to collector'. Turns out, any time she goes to the lot, she has to move the paintings into her inventory then back onto the wall to get close to the original value of the painting. Otherwise, paintings that were originally valued at 2000+ turn into 200+ pieces of art.
Also of note, I only see this happen with Excellent paintings; Masterpieces seem to retain their value correctly. I haven't tested Normal or under.
