The most recent patch that was supposed to fix frequency of ailments did not solve the problem for me. My fairies get ailments several times a day. My other fairies in the household use their fairy magic to cure the ailments.
The problem concerns not only fairies, but all sims in all towns.
The latest patch notes did not say anything about fixing this problem, they are working on it, here is the main bug report:
