Basically, I am unable to make a fairy with different looks in different forms as skintone and features I change automatically copy to human form after playing for a little bit. This is extremely disappointing as the game does allow you to make a sim with different skintone in human form and fairy form, so we should also be able to play like that.

Just to check, have you made sure to unlink human and fairy forms?
Like I said, this happens in live mode and you have to unlink the forms in the first place to be able to edit them separately in CAS
Been testing this a bit more this morning and I had troubles reproducing it, but ive been able to reproduce it twice now after the sim had splashed in the sink in fairy form. My game also consistently seems to crash at this point too though when i swap between forms
I'm on xbox series x console and I have this issue as well. My sims fairy form skin tone is different than his human form skin tone and when I placed him in live mode and had him transform into fairy form and then back to his human form his human form skin tone automatically changed to the same skin tone as his fairy form. I then had my fairy sim transform into his fairy form again and then back into his human form and then my game crashed to the xbox home menu. Also, my fairy sim has the fairy form only glowing tattoos on his fairy form.

When trying to customize my sims fairy form, it is changing both their normal form as well as their fairy form. I have noticed this happening to my merfolk too.
Ex: Change's fairy form hair to blue. Their normal form changes hair to blue as well.
I have noticed that every time I am in CAS with a fairy, each fairy automatically has their fairy form linked to their sim form. EVERY time. You have to unlink it for each fairy each and every time you go into CAS if you don't want them linked. Even if you unlink them, if you exit CAS and later go back in again they are automatically linked once more. Could this be what is causing your issue?
