I had the same issue. I had to cancel the "job" in my "work" area, then had do it all over again from scratch to get it to work. I noticed that when you go up to them the action to ask them is not in a set location. I would be so much better if they put the action to ask in the "actions" in the "friendly" category like how they do for holiday actions.
